CareerQuest is registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and it has developed a unique rehabilitation program for those who need to develop competitive use of their non-dominant hand following an amputation, stroke, Repetitive Strain injury (RSI) including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, or other injury to their dominant hand.  The non-dominant hand training program represents an innovative approach to restoring an individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living or employment.  All clients are assessed biomechanically and monitored throughout the program by a certified kinesiologist.  The 12 to 20 week program focuses on gross-motor hand skills and stamina using a variety of techniques including art therapy, handwriting and uni-manual keyboarding with the computer.

Each program is developed and customized as necessary to meet the client’s needs and incorporates a wide range of activities.  This program gradually improves gross-motor hand function while slowly introducing fine-motor work.  Psychomotor skills such as range of motion, eye-hand coordination, dexterity, strength, and endurance are also key components of the program.
